Tesco HSC to ramp up headcount

Staff Correspondent

CHENNAI: Tesco Hindustan Service Centre, the global services arm catering to the U.K.-based retailer Tesco, plans to increase its headcount by 200 in the next couple of months. At present, Tesco HSC has 800 employees located in Bangalore, according Meena Ganesh, CEO, Tesco HSC.

Addressing a press conference, Ms. Ganesh said right now the company was focusing equally between IT application and business services. With an increase in headcount, the thrust would be more on IT application. The Bangalore centre offered business process services to Tesco operations, particularly in processing financial data.

Ms. Ganesh said the Indian arm helped Tesco to focus on delivering more value for its customers and supporting the company's continued growth. The centre also worked on a data-warehousing tool called Teradata, integration services and a number of other technologies.
