Panel to regulate awarding rights of films released after January 2
|
CHENNAI:
The Tamil Film Producers Council has decided not to sell the rights of song, comedy and fight sequences of any film released after January 2 to satellite channels.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting on Monday, when a high-level committee met and discussed the issue of granting film clipping rights to the channels and awarding overseas and online rights.
Satellite channels telecast films repeatedly and generated huge revenue through film clippings without obtaining due permission from producers, the release said. Repeat telecast of film adversely affected ticket collections in theatres, it said. Besides producers and distributors, the exchequer suffered entertainment tax losses, it said.
