PCB to present appeal on Shabbir

Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will present on January 19 an appeal before the ICC Bowling Review Commission against the ban imposed on fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed.

"We are preparing the case with the help of video footage, referee's report, further work on his action and experts' evidence to get Shabbir back in action for the country," PCB Director Operations Salim Altaf was quoted by The Nation as saying.

Meanwhile, PCB has roped in the services of former fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz to work on the bowling action of Shabbir before going for the appeal.

"We don't expect the ban to be lifted, but hope it would be reduced to some extent," Altaf said.

He said, "In fact we want Shabbir allowed to bowl in accordance with Law 24 which permits the bowler to bowl; and if any of his deliveries is considered illegal that should be called `no ball'."

The ICC is yet to name a Bowling Review Commission, which would consist of one international referee, an ex-international player and a human movement specialist. — UNI
