A relief for school kids

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: School children in Haryana will no longer be deployed merely for welcoming, seeing off or honouring dignitaries and other personalities.

The Haryana Chief Secretary, Meenaxi Anand Chaudhry, has issued fresh guidelines about participation of school children in various public functions. It was felt that school children had to wait for long hours at public functions without proper care and arrangements which caused them "severe strain and suffering". Also, the State Government did not want any mishap to occur like it happened in Kanpur recently where 45 children fainted at a function.
