Rupee gains 26 paise against $


MUMBAI: Despite suspected central bank dollar buying intervention, the rupee on Wednesday surged by another 26 paise to scale a near three-month closing peak of 44.77/79 a dollar, driven up by robust foreign institutional inflows into the booming stock market.

The rupee opened at 44.77/78 and corrected downwards to 44.86/88Heavy dollar supplies from trade and FII inflows, however, drove the rupee once again to multi-week peak of 44.75/77, before settling at 44.77/79.— PTI
