HYDERABAD : Balaji XI recorded a 76-run win against Sri Shyam XI in the inaugural match of the Jai Bhagawati Cup floodlit cricket tournament at the Quli Qutub Shah Stadium here on Tuesday night. The scores: Balaji XI 202 (Pankaj Agarwal 67, Atul Jhunjhunwala 40) bt Sri Shyam XI 126.
Indoor cricket
The first-ever ML Jaisimha prize money indoor cricket tournament will be organised at the venue near ML Jai 365 Academy, Imperial Gardens (Paradise) from January 15, according to Vidyuth Jaisimha, chief co-ordinator of the Academy. Easy win for Capco

Hyderabad teams
Hyderabad district named the team that will take part in the AP State sub-junior athletic meet to be held in Tadepalligudam on January 7 and 8. The teams: Boys: K. Venugopal, Arick Rajan, Hari Prasad, Jai Kumar, K. Abhishek, D.Sunny Kumar, Richardson, K.Sai Kumar, Nithin Reddy, Mujtaba Ali and Shahid Ali. Girls: M. Laxmi Reddy, M. Aruna Jyothi, P. TCS is champion
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) notched up a six-wicket win against NMDC in the final of the Sports Un-limited Corporate cricket league championship. Special incentives were given to Srihar Poli of Vertex (best batsman), P. Srivatsav of Capital IQ (best all-rounder), Sridhar of TCS (best wicket-keeper). The scores: NMDC 113 for nine in 20 overs lost to TCS 116 for four.

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh will felicitate the outstanding sportspersons of the year 2005 at a function in Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Thursday at 4.30 pm, according to G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, SAAP VC & MD. Sports Minister M. Satyanarayana Rao will give away the awards. Vizag defeated Warangal 2-0 in the football competitions of the 36th AP State-level Group II rural sports tournaments, being conducted by SAAP at Mylavaram The results: Boys: Football: Vizag bt Warangal 2-0; Khammam bt Vizianagaram 1-0; Krishna drew with Adilabad 1-1; West Godavari bt Nalgonda 4-0; East Godavari drew with Guntur 1-1. Danny Derek Prince (95, 10x4) helped City XI record a six-wicket win against Combined Districts XI in the three-day final of the Bharat Chand Khanna Trophy cricket tournament at the Gymkhana grounds here. Hyderabad `A' defeated Hyderabad `B' 3-0 in the men's team final of the 34th inter-district carrom championship at the NTPC Recreation Club (Ramagundam) on Wednesday. The results: Men's team event final: Hyderabad `A' bt Hyderabad `B' 3-0 (R.D. Dinesh Babu bt Sd. Nayyar 16-25, 25-1, 25-6; D. Ravinder Goud bt L. Suryaprakash 20-25, 25-13, 25-0; V.S.K. Susai (Jr) passes away
Susai Jr, one of the finest footballers from the twin cities, passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 80 and is survived by two sons and a daughter. Susai played as a half-back in the famous Hyderabad City Police team which won the Rovers Cup five times in succession. He was also instrumental in producing two Olympians from the Secunderabad Cantonment area Balaraman and Dharmalingam Kannan.
V.V. Nagar in last four
V.V. Nagar moved into the semifinals of the Susai Sr memorial football tournament with a 3-1 win, via tie-breaker, over St. Antony's HS (Gandhinagar) at the Trimulgherry Village Grounds here. The teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Arvi Alagan, Bhaskar and Jayanth scored for the winner, while Ambugan was the lone scorer for St. Antony's. The first semifinal between J.J. Nagar and Munsiff (Hyderabad) will be held on Friday.
