Export awards announced

KOCHI: The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) has announced awards for best export performance under various categories for 2003-'04 and 2004-'05.

A press release from the Authority said here on Thursday that the awards would be given away by Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry E.V.K. S. Elangovan at a function at Hotel Taj Malabar on Thursday.

Top honours have gone to the following firms: Hindustan Lever Limited, Bangalore, (All Marine Products), Devi Seafoods Limited, Vishakapatanam (Frozen Shrimp), Castlerock Fisheries Limited, Mumbai and Torry Harris Seafoods Limited, Eramalloor (Frozen Cephalopods for 2003-04 and 2004-05 respectively), Excel Ice Services, Mumbai (Frozen Fin Fish), Chand International, Mumbai and Excel Ice Services (Chilled Marine Products for 2003-04 and 2004-05 respectively), Marinex, Chennai and Saraash Worldwide Exports (Dried Marine Products for 2003-04 and 2004-05 respectively), Madras Seafoods, Chennai (Live Seafoods other than Aquarium Fish), Asian Exports, Kolkata (Aquarium Fish), Hindustan Lever Limited, Bangalore (Value-Added Products) and Phillips Foods India Private Limited, Tuticorin (New Product).

The MPEDA press release also said that the Seafood Exporters' Association of India (SEAI) would organise a marine products expo in Kolkata between February 3 and 5.

Nearly 100 stalls will be put up to highlight India's seafood processing industry and delegates from abroad are expected to attend.
