Junior doctors' strike withdrawn

Thiruvananthapuram: The Junior Doctors' Action Council has decided to withdraw the indefinite strike they had proposed from January 5, following assurances from the Government that the fee hike would be dropped and the residency system would be implemented. Action council convener A.Althaf said that the stipend of PG students has been hiked Rs.10,000 and that of super specialty course students Rs.12,500. House surgeons's stipend has been hiked by 20 per cent.
