Coimbatore : The annual Rotary District conference, Symphony 2K6, will be held at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences, Coimbatore, on January 7 and 8. The conference chairman, N. Sundaravadivelu, told reporters here that the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Mr. Justice V. S. Sirpurkar, would be the chief guest. Over 2,500 delegates from the Rotary District 3200 that comprises Coimbatore, the Nilgiris and Erode districts in Tamil Nadu and nine districts in Kerala - Kochi to Kasaragod - would take part in the conference It is being hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore, Thondamuthur and Dharapuram. The Rotary District Governor, K. S. Pillai, would present a report on the activities of the Rotary and its future plans. A group study exchange team from the U.S. visiting the Rotary District would make a presentation. There would be a talk on `Women's role in Indian democracy' by the Coimbatore West Constituency Legislator, Maheswari, and another on `Ethics and leadership' by the Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, B. K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar. Personalities from various fields would take part in the conference.
