Coimbatore: As many as 13,000 police personnel working in the two police ranges and two police commissionerates in the West Zone have contributed Rs. 32.70 lakhs to the Chief Minister's Flood Relief Fund. The personnel working in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore Rural, Erode, Namakkal, Salem Rural, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts besides Coimbatore and Salem City Police and ministerial staff have contributed their one-day salary. The Inspector-General of Police, West Zone, A. Subramanian, handed over the contribution to the DGP Office. The total contribution across the State towards flood relief was said to be over Rs. 2 crores. The Director-General of Police would hand over the entire contribution to the Chief Minister, police sources said.
