Role of dubbing artistes lauded

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The voice of an actor is as important as his or her acting skills and the two play a complementary role. Noted director Adoor Gopalakrishnan made this observation at the inaugural function of the Vismaya's School of Voice Designing and Presentation in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.

When an actor gets an award for his or her performance, the dubbing artiste should get a legitimate share of the honour.

Though belated, the Government's decision to give awards to dubbing artistes is laudable, Adoor said.

The school, which is a joint initiative of the actor Mohanlal and dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi, is claimed to be the first of its kind in the State.

A host of celebrities including Public Works Minister M.K. Muneer, Sreekumaran Thampi, Nedumudi Venu, Rajivnath and KPAC Lalitha attended the inaugural function.
