Letters to the Editor
The tapping of phones is certainly a "serious matter," as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has pointed out. In such cases, an enquiry must be conducted and the culprits apprehended. In the Amar Singh case, the CPI(M) has rightly called for an enquiry. However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh is trying to politicise the issue by putting the blame on the Congress president. K.X.M. John, Kochi, Kerala Congress leader Ambika Soni's query, "What is it that has been tapped that they [SP leaders Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh] are afraid of?" is surprising. The question is the privacy of an individual. No one has the right to overhear another person's conversation.
