Letters to the Editor
The Government seems keen on imposing reservation on the private sector at a time when the efficacy of the policy itself is under dispute. If the politicians are really keen on empowering the weaker sections, they should introduce 40 per cent reservation in Parliament, State Assemblies, and Panchayats.
The move to introduce the quota system in the private sector sounds odd. In a society that is already divided on the basis of caste, another division will not help the cause of development. It will only lead to a polarisation in the vital economic sector.
