Rupee strengthens further

MUMBAI: Sustained robust foreign institutional inflows into the fledgling economy amid a broader weak dollar drove the rupee to a new three month closing high of 44.68/70 a dollar on Thursday, in spite of flaring crude oil prices fuelling dollar demand from oil companies, limiting gains. In an active two-way trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee gained another nine paise from the previous close of 44.77/79 after posting a strong opening slot of 44.70/73.— PTI
