Pondicherry : Chief Minister N. Rangasamy called upon ministerial staff, on indefinite strike since Wednesday, to withdraw their agitation. At a press conference here on Thursday, he said the Administration had never let down any section of government employees. The ministerial staff hadbeenassured that their demands for restructuring the posts of Clerks and Assistants, besides upward revision of pay scales would be sympathetically considered. In the circumstances, there was no point in continuing the strike, he said. Meanwhile, a release from Unified Ministerial Staff Action Committee convener P. Lakshmanasamy said if there were any delay in implementing the Chief Minister's assurance, the ministerial staff would launch an indefinite fast on Friday before the Assembly premises. This decision was taken at a meeting of the Action Committee general body.
