PMK concern over mill's future

PONDICHERRY: The Pattali Makkal Katchi on Thursday expressed concern over the "administrative inefficiency" and lack of appropriate measures to ensure the smooth working of the Jayaprakash Narayan Cooperative spinning mill in Karaikal.

In a release, parliamentary party leader M. Ramadoss said while speedy steps were taken to cater to the requirements of SPINCO [a cooperative spinning corporation] at Tirubuvanai, near here, nothing was done to protect the mill, set up in 1995. The Central funds were being squandered . The mill reportedly suffered a loss to the extent of Rs. 27 crore.
