BSNL goodies for subscribers

Staff Reporter

Exciting package offered

  • BSNL not collecting rentals on broadband facility for first two months after installation
  • Payment of registration fee and installation charges also waived during `free trial offer'

VIJAYAWADA: Telephone users from Krishna district can make STD calls from coin collection boxes (CCBs) to anywhere in the State by dialling `95' instead of zero in the STD code. The pulse rate is 60 seconds and the facility will be made available to the users from January 5.

This offer is made by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in view of the Buddhist festival Kalachakra, scheduled to begin on Thursday. Though the offer is limited for 11 days, the department has plans to extend it further based on the feedback from users.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, General Manager of the BSNL Vijayawada, P. Balagangadhara Rao said that the BSNL was not collecting rentals on broadband facility for the first two months after installation. Payment of registration fee and installation charges was also waived during the `free trial offer', which would exist till January 31.

    Cell sites

One could save Rs. 500 towards rental and Rs. 750 towards registration fee and installation charges by applying for broadband connection. "Customers are free to opt for disconnection of the facility after the first two months," Mr. Rao said.

For the benefit of mobile phone users, the telecom district would construct 50 `cell sites' across the district. These would be in addition to the 50 sites located at different places. Once the construction of the new sites is completed, connectivity of the mobile phones in the district would be improved.

To a question on complaints from the mobile phone users on frequent interruptions while using the service, Mr. Rao said that it was due to replacement of equipment in telephone exchange. "Now the problem is almost cleared in many areas. It will be cleared in the remaining areas in two to three days," he said.

Referring to the BSNL's lifetime incoming calls free offer, Mr. Rao said that those who opt for `Excel Anant' prepaid cellular service could get incoming calls free of cost forever. "The customers have to recharge the phone once in every six months," he explained.
