NIZAMABAD: The district administration is all set to develop 28 tourist spots in the district with an estimated amount of Rs.6 crores. The proposals for which have been sent to the Government, according to district Collector, D.V. Raidu. Presiding over the District Tourism Development Board meeting at Dichpally on Thursday, he said apart from developing the tourist resorts with all required facilities the administration would take responsibility of maintaining them. The maintenance of Ashok Sagar, on the outskirts of the town was handed over to the youth associations. The Sri Ram Sagar Project will have a boating facility soon as the Government gives a nod to purchase a boat spending Rs.10 lakhs, he said. The CMEY group members are undergoing training in boat driving in Chennai and also in hotel management. Efforts are on to develop a park, entertainment and refreshment arrangements on a ten acre land near the project. At all entrance points of the district big hoardings giving information on all tourist and pilgrim centres in the district will be put up. The Irrigation department officials have been asked to develop meadows and water fountains around Ali Sagar. Adventure sports would be introduced at the lake soon.
Facelift for bungalow
At Nizam Sagar the Guldasta Guest House and the park built during the Nizam's period would be modernised. Gole Bungalow would be given a facelift to enable the tourists to have a glimpse of the reservoir from there. The existing swimming pool over there would be renovated. Eco tourism would be encouraged at Mallaram forest with the help of CMEY groups and VSSs and introduction of boating facility in the lake nearby would also be considered. When the board members suggested that it would be good if cultural programmes were conducted at Dichpally Ramalayam on every full moon night, the Collector asked the District Tourism Promotion Officer to initiate steps to that effect. Members also suggested to lay a new road beside the existing tank bund at Ashok Sagar and a CC road to Ashtamukhi koneru atop a hill near Janakampet. They also advised that as the town had completed 100 years as the district headquarter Centenary celebrations could be conducted.
