Jajpur Collector, SP transferred

Naveen enhances ex-gratia amount from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakhs

  • Committee to study draft resettlement, rehabilitation police

    BHUBANESWAR: The Naveen Patnaik Government on Thursday transferred the Jajpur Collector and Superintendent of Police, who were present during the clash in Kalinga Nagar on Monday in which 12 tribals and a policeman were killed.

    Collector Saswat Mishra was transferred as Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and SP Vinaytosh Mishra was transferred to the Crime Branch. Jagatsinghpur Collector Arabinda Padhi Angul SP Asit Panigrahi have been shifted to Jajpur.

    Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also enhanced the ex-gratia amount from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakhs for the next of kin of the tribals. He announced that the injured tribals would be paid Rs. 50,000 each and their treatment expenses would be borne by the Government.

    The State Government also announced the formation of a Committee of Ministers, headed by Industry Minister Biswabhushan Harichandan, to study the draft resettlement and rehabilitation policy; it has been asked to submit its report within a month.
