HOLY JOURNEY: Four Iyyappa devotees who are on a padayatra from Andhra Pradesh to Sabarimala. Photo: R.M.Rajarathinam
Four Iyyappa devotees are now on an arduous task - a `padayatra' from their native place in Andhra Pradesh to Sabarimala. The youths, Hanuma Prasad, N. Anajaiah, K. Brahmmanada Goud, V. Kiran Reddy, left Ongole on December 6 and and have planned to offer their worship at the sannidhi at Sabarimala on January 10, covering about 1,100 km. On an average, they traverse about 20 km a day. Arriving at Srirangam recently, they offered their worship to Lord Ranganathaswamy and resumed their yatra. Recalling the assistance offered by villagers en route they expressed their gratitude to a person who made arrangements for food during an odd hour. "Instantly identifying as Iyyappa devotees, people of Tamil Nadu have been offering us all assistance. All the more, despite language barrier, they make enquiries which are hospitable." they point out.
