E. Ahamed to open loan mela tomorrow

KOZHIKODE: Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed will inaugurate the loan mela and an awareness programme of the Kerala State Women's Development Corporation at its office here on Saturday.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Qamarunnisa Anwar, chairperson of the Corporation, said it was disbursing loan to around 1,000 women across the State every year. The main scheme of the corporation was to disburse loan to the women for self-employment. They could select any enterprise falling under cultivation, business or industries as per their abilities and imagination. The loan amount varied from Rs.10,000 to Rs.1 lakh. Widows were being offered loans at 4 per cent and other women at 6 per cent.The Corporation got award instituted by the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation.
