BANGALORE: The Petroleum Sports Promotion Board teams once again made the title rounds in both the men's and women's sections in the National inter-State championship at the Karnataka Badminton Association courts here on Thursday.

In the men's title contest, PSPB takes on Kerala and for the women's crown it clashes with Railways.

In the men's semifinals, PSPB, despite resting its top guns Anup Sridhar and Chetan Anand, proved good for Maharashtra and won 3-0. Former National champion Abhinn Shyam Gupta, after a tentative start, defeated Himanshu Thakkar 13-15, 15-3, 15-7.

Later, Arvind Bhat trounced Rituparna Kulkarni 15-5, 15-1 and left Jaseel P. Ismail and Chetan Anand to complete the formalities for PSPB in the doubles.

Kerala's smooth passage

In the other semifinal, Sachin Ratti's win against Joy T. Antony of Kerala kindled Railways' hopes, but Thomas Kurian and Sanave Thomas ensured Kerala's smooth passage to the final.

PSPB made a short work of Assam 2-0 in the women's semifinals. Trupti Murgunde, had to sweat it out in the first game against Abantika Deka but found her rhythm to take the second game easily.
