Rynold ends Binu's reign

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rynold Timothy struck gold in the Sri Chitra State tennis tournament at the TTC courts here on Thursday.

The youngster from Ernakulam ended the reign of Binu Mani as the State singles champion. Rynold beat Binu Mani 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 in the men's final. Rynold won the under-18 singles and doubles title to complete a treble in the championship.

The results (all finals): Men: Rynold Timothy bt Binu Mani 5-7, 6-1, 6-4. Doubles: Binu Mani/Binoj Mani bt K. Shankar/A. Vijayakumar 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

Boys: Under-18: Rynold Timothy bt A.Anand 6-0, 6-2. Doubles: Rynold Timothy/Sarathlal bt G. Chandu/Sekhar Satish 6-3, 6-1.Under-14: Tao Issaro bt Swathy Kanth 6-0, 6-1. Doubles: Tao Issaro/Anand George bt Jaisal Kohli/Adithya Bhat 6-1, 6-1. Under-12: Anand George bt Adithya Bhat 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. Doubles: Anand George/Solomon G. Thomas bt H. Suraj/Mohammed Hamraz 6-0, 6-1.
