Himachal Pradesh
SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Government is working out modalities to authorise hoisting of the National Flag in all Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRSs) in the State, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said on Thursday .
Oath of office
``The National Flag would be hoisted at all gram panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishad headquarters in the State,'' he announced while administering the oath of office and secrecy to 1,262 newly-elected village panchayat heads of Kangra, Chamba and Una districts.
Assembly session
He said the modalities to authorise hoisting of the tricolour would be chalked out ``on a priority'' as his Government was committed to provide more powers to PRIs. The third phase of the oath-taking ceremony was organised by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department at Dharamshala, where the Assembly session is being held for the first time. Mr. Singh said Himachal Pradesh was one of the frontrunners in implementing the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, pertaining to PRIs, in its very first year. He also expressed concern over the declining sex ratio in the 0-6 age group, which was bound to destablise the social system and said the State Government had already banned pre-natal tests and closure of all unlicenced clinics.- PTI
