MCH takes up demolition for road widening

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD : Twenty-five structures were demolished as part of the road-widening work for 1.74 km taken up between Satyam theatre of Ameerpet and the Fatehnagar bridge by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad here on Thursday.

MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju said people's representatives cooperated well with the corporation and the widening work was taken up from the house of the local corporator and BJP floor leader in the MCH council B. Shyam Sundar Goud.

The roads in this stretch were proposed to be widened from the current 25 ft/60 ft to a standard 80 ft to ease the traffic congestion. Seventy-nine structures were to be affected and all landowners had accepted the widening, Additional Commissioner of Planning & Projects K. Dhananjaya Reddy said.

All the work would be completed within a month and the new road would have a median along with a central modern lighting.
