Desert, a beautiful place for Kalam
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
"Though it is a desert, it is a beautiful place for me... that is place of action," remarked President A. P.J. Abdul Kalam referring to Pokhran in Rajasthan while interacting with a farmer from that place at the inaugural of First National Virtual Congress of Farmers here on Wednesday.
Bhakta Ram from Pokhran wanted to know from Dr. Kalam how to protect animals, as there was very little rain in that region.
Stating that desert cultivation experts should look into the issue, Dr. Kalam recalled that he had seen small trees, which used to provide shelter to deers and peacocks while working there. He said experts should study which type of trees could be grown, analyse seed pattern and produce seeds, which could be grown in drought-prone areas.
