KOCHI : Technology enabled virtual classrooms will become a reality at M.A. College, Kotham angalam, on Friday. Students will receive the advantages of remote learning network system through the new facility. The college will offer state-of-the-art virtual classrooms for students. The authorities had already set up an exclusive VSAT terminal on the campus at a cost of Rs.3.5 lakhs. It is the operational technology used by IIMs, XLRI, and other premier educational institutions in the country. The satellite learning system offers interactive virtual classrooms with the aid of VSAT technology. It provides virtually error-free digital data communication with excellent network reliability. Classes taken by teachers are transferred via satellite to distant learning centres. At the learning centre, the students can see, listen and participate in the lecture through a computer and a projector connected to VSAT receiver. Courses offered by M.A. College through the satellite system are mainly meant for learners who want to supplement their traditional courses with on-the-job skills. These include non-academic programmes aimed at developing learners' life skills. Training will be given for improving soft skills. Technical skills required for students entering into professional careers will also be offered.
