Foggy Friday morning likely

NEW DELHI: With the Meteorological Department forecasting a high moisture content in the atmosphere, the Capital would wake up to yet another foggy morning on Friday. The minimum temperature is expected to dip further to settle at 4 degree Celsius.

On Thursday Delhi registered a maximum temperature of 17.3 degree Celsius and a minimum of 5.0 degree Celsius. The Capital will have mist/fog in morning with the weather clearing up later during the day. A partly cloudy sky is expected by afternoon/evening, the weatherman said.

One arrested in Nand Nagri case

NEW DELHI: The man who allegedly blackmailed a 28-year-old woman into making a false allegation of criminal assault against another man with whom he had a property dispute in Nand Nagri, has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police.

According to the police, the accused, Ram Karan, was arrested on Thursday after the woman gave a statement that he had kept her three minor children in illegal confinement and threatened her of dire consequences if she did not level false charges against Ved Prakash.

Earlier, the woman had complained that Ved Prakash, a clerk in the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate at Baghpat, had criminally assaulted her in a moving car on the night of December 31. Investigations, however, revealed that the woman had known Ram Karan, who had allegedly encroached on the property of Ved Prakash. The police then questioned the woman who allegedly confessed to having made a false allegation under duress.

Ved Prakash owned a house at Harsh Vihar in Nand Nagri, which had been encroached on by Ram Karan after he got part ownership of the same. Three juveniles held

in murder case

NEW DELHI: A juvenile and his two friends have been arrested by the West Delhi police for allegedly killing a 13-year-old boy at Vikaspuri in West Delhi on December 26 last. The main accused was apparently fed up with constant bullying by the victim and decided to kill him.

Hitesh, son of Surender Kumar, had gone missing from outside his house at H-Block in Vikaspuri on December 25 evening. The body was found near a godown in the same locality the next afternoon.

Investigations revealed that Hitesh had left his house along with two young boys who told him that one of his friends needed help as he was in trouble. Following investigations, the police arrested three juveniles from their houses on Thursday.

During interrogation, the main accused, aged 15, allegedly told the police that he was fed up as Hitesh would constantly bully him. He then decided to rope in two of his friends -- also known to Hitesh -- and hatched the conspiracy. They, in turn, roped in two more friends.

As per the plan, two boys, whom Hitesh's family did not recognise, went to his house and asked him to accompany them on the pretext that one of his friends was in trouble. The duo, however, took him to an isolated spot where the other accused were already waiting. They smothered Hitesh to death. The police said the main accused had even promised his friend that he would pay them after the task was completed.

Efforts are now on to trace and arrest the other two accused who are still absconding.
