Letters to the Editor
The Allahabad High Court ruling that takes away Aligarh Muslim University's minority status has, in the process, taken away the hope that remained for improving the lot of impoverished Muslims. When the privileged and educated among Muslims have not come forward to defend AMU's minority status, why blame the others?
Sami Rafiq,
The Allahabad High Court judgment regarding AMU is in the right direction. Aptitude determines the altitude a person reaches. Equal opportunities should be provided to all and fair competition ensured.
V.K. Sharma,

Puneet Tandon,
Reservation for Muslims in educational institutions and in public employment may or may not be constitutionally valid. But is reservation the only way to end the educational and economic backwardness of Muslims or any other community? Other options should be explored.
K. Vijayakumar,
