Politics of intrigue

The article, "The polity has to turn its back on politics of intrigue" (Jan. 5), is a brilliant analysis of the mindset of some of our Opposition leaders who crank up protests on the flimsiest of pretexts. Such petty-minded leaders who are unfit or unwilling to play their parts according to the rules of democracy should be weeded out if the country is not to slip into anarchy.

C.P. Srinivasan,
Chennai

The inability of the Opposition leaders to accept defeat is made clear by their frequent protests. They act as self-appointed custodians of public morals but their contrasting rejection of all moral values to attain power reveals their true character.

Varun Kumar,
New Delhi

The article is a true analysis of our polity. Ina way, the politics of intrigue indulged in by most of our politicians is because of their desperation for power and the frustration of not being able to wield it most of the time.

Rahul Sharma,
New Delhi

Politics of intrigue has been with us since the days of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

B. Seetharam,
Hanamkonda, A.P.
