SIT posts win

PERIAKULAM: Sethu Institute of Technology (SIT), Kariapatti registered a 64-22 win over Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), Madurai in the semifinal round-robin league of the 9th annual Jayaraj Chelladurai Trophy State-level inter-collegiate basketball tournament here on Friday.

In another match, Sourashtra College, Madurai beat Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI) 84-77.

The results (league): SIT 64 (Jeya Ganesh 16, Devendra Pandian 11, Sundaramurthy 11) bt TCE 22 (Anand) 10; Sourashtra College 84 (Harisankar 21, Jeyachandran 19) bt GRI 77 (Gajendran 23, Adi Ganesh 21).

Quarterfinals: TCE bt Jayaraj Chelladurai College 55-46; SIT bt Yadava College, Madurai 67-47; GRI bt MSSWB College, Madurai 78-75; Sourashtra College bt Horticultural College, Periakulam 72-38.

Jehangir nets winner

M.S.S. Wakfboard College beat Vikram Engineering College 1-0 in the Madurai District Football Association `B' division league here on Friday. Jehangir Syed scored the winner. — Sports Correspondent
