Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday disbursed almost Rs. 10 crore to its national cricketers before the Indian team took a late evening flight to Lahore for the Test and one-day series in Pakistan. "All outstanding money up to December 31, 2005 has been cleared. This includes the match fees up to the third Test against Sri Lanka played at Ahmedabad. The 15 players for whom contract was awarded for the period October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006 have been advanced 25 per cent of the contractual sum. That's Rs. 12.50 lakhs for the Grade `A' players, Rs. 8. 75 lakhs for Grade `B' and Rs. 5 lakhs for the Group `C' players. The cheques were given to them in Delhi,'' said a BCCI official. Even Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Kaarthick and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who were not among the contracted players for the previous contractual period, received a proportionate sum because they had fulfilled the criteria of five Test or 15 one-day internationals. With the BCCI's gross revenue for the current fiscal likely to show a manifold rise, it's been said that the fees for the first class players per match from the 2005-06 season may touch Rs. 1 lakh, but more than 50 per cent of it would be credited to the Benevolent Fund account of the players. Once the television rights contract is firmed up BCCI officials anticipate gross earnings of the BCCI to touch in excess of Rs. 500 crore each for the next four years.
