AICC promotes Hariprasad

Bangalore: It is a windfall for Karnataka in the reconstitution of the Congress Working Committee and appointment of new AICC (All-India Congress Committee) general secretaries announced by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Friday.

Member of the Rajya Sabha B.K. Hariprasad, one of the secretaries to the AICC, has been promoted as General Secretary. Former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily and former Railway Minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief will be permanent invitees to the Congress Working Committee (CWC). Former Minister G. Parameshwara will be a special invitee to the CWC. Margaret Alva has retained her position as AICC General Secretary. The other permanent invitee to the CWC from the State is Union Minister of State for Statistics Oscar Fernandes. K.B. Krishnamurthy, member of the Rajya Sabha, is being continued as one of the secretaries of the AICC. A.K. Antony will continue as the AICC General Secretary in charge of the State. Irshad Baig makes way for Praveen Davar as AICC Secretary for the State.
