Special Correspondent

They were out to form a network and build contacts

MUMBAI: The Anti-Terrorist Squad of the Mumbai Police has arrested three Kashmiris from the city's central neighbourhood Nagpada and seized a revolver and electronic items used in making improvised explosive devices.

Mumbai Police Commissioner A.N. Roy told reporters that 20 detonators, five timers, a .32 bore foreign-made revolver and five electronic circuits were seized. Some diaries and money were also found in their possession. They were identified as Khursheed Ahmed, 29, a resident of Baramulla district, Arshad Gulam, 27, of Sopore, and Mohammed Ramzan Abdul Kazi, 50, of Baramulla. Mr. Roy said that their links with terrorist outfits were not known.

They have been booked under the provisions of the Explosives Act, Arms Act and the recently legislated Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The Mumbai Police contacted their counterparts in Kashmir and learnt that Khursheed Ahmed was involved in a bomb blast and a bank robbery.
