2 cr. worth cotton gutted
Staff Reporter
ANANTAPUR:
In a major fire accident in a spinning mill at Kirikera village near Hindupur, raw material (cotton) worth about Rs. 2 crores was reduced to ashes on Friday evening. However, there was no loss of life.
Mill's own fire-fighting arrangement and fire extinguishers, rushed from Hindupur, were still trying to douse the fire.
Initially, it was suspected that the accident was due to short circuit, but it was deduced later that friction of metal rods in the cotton bales resulted in the fire.
General Manager of the mill Dinakar told mediapersons that420 tonnes was cotton was reduced to ashes.
