Enforce ban on cow slaughter strictly: DGP
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Director-General of Police Swaranjit Sen on Friday directed Commissioners and SPs to implement the High Court order on prohibition of cow slaughter, particularly on the eve of Bakrid.
Mr. Sen advised the officers to invoke Section 5 of the Andhra Pradesh Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977, and form task forces to keep a watch on new shandies. He wanted that check-posts be set up on highways and at entry points to towns to prevent unlawful transfer of animals.
The DGP said each special squad should each consist of one SI and head constable and two constables and supervised by an Additional DCP/SP for detection and prosecution of offenders, by constantly moving in areas where such offences are rampant.
