NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday virtually rejected a "modified proposed plan" for reconstruction and expansion of the cloverleaf of Akshardham Setu at Noida Mor intersection for traffic headed for Mayur Vihar Phase-I in East Delhi and Noida. A Division Bench comprising Justice Vijender Jain and Justice R.S. Sodhi had on October 21 last year approved the plan after going through it, copies of which were filed in the Court signed jointly by the Rail India Technical Engineering Services (RITES) and the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI). Asking CRRI and RITES to prepare a new plan wherein they should ensure no traffic congestion within 500 metres of the cloverleaf, a Division Bench comprising Justice Vijender Jain and Justice R.S. Sodhi gave the two organisations four weeks to prepare the plan and submit copies of it to the Court. The Bench also made it clear that it would direct the organisations involved in the construction of the cloverleaf to deduct the money estimated to cost on its reconstruction and expansion from the salaries of the officials responsible. The Bench had on September 16 last year rejected another modified plan prepared by RITES suggesting that the entry point of the petrol pump should be closed and its exit should be made the new entry point for vehicles going inside the fuel filling station.
