NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Friday carried out demolitions in 10 of the 12 civic zones, targeting 25 unauthorised constructions that included sealing of four properties. Barring Rohini and South zones, demolition squads took action against 16 residential and nine commercial properties. While seven residential properties were razed, a similar number of commercial and residential properties each were partially demolished. The civic body officials also sealed two residential and commercial properties each during the drive that included one residential in Central zone, while one residential and two commercial properties were sealed in West zone. Main areas that were covered during the drive included Jangpura Extension, Daryaganj, Roop Nagar, Naraina Vihar, Bawana, Vasant Kunj, Paharganj, Aryapura, Dilshad Garden, West Jyoti Nagar, Mayur Vihar Phase-I, Sahibpura, Rajouri Garden and Vishnu Garden. Since the full-fledged drive commenced on December 19 following an order from the Delhi High Court, the MCD has so far taken action against 613 unauthorised structures that include 185 residential and 428 commercial. It has also sealed 87 properties for gross violation of building by-laws.
