AMU triumphs

ALIGARH: Host Aligarh Muslim University defeated Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, 3-1 in the final of the all-India inter-University hockey tournament on Saturday.

Mohammed Ishaq, Imran Ansari and Pramod Kumar scored the goals, converting penalty corners for AMU. Hitendra Singh reduced the margin for Kashi Vidyapith early in the second half.

In the match for third place, Jamia Millia Islamia beat Barkatullah University, Bhopal, 7-5.

The Vice-Chancellor of AMU, Naseem Ahmad, gave away the prizes.
