CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has exempted four categories of items from the levy of VAT from January 1, 2006. These include supplements, concentrates and additives to aquatic feed, cattle feed and poultry feed, de-oiled cakes and de-oiled rice bran, tyres, tubes and flaps of animal drawn vehicles, labelled seeds and sweets and namkeen prepared with traditional tools of `halwai' trade but not by mechanical operations like in factories. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the Excise and Taxation Minister, Venod Kumar Sharma, after presiding over the meeting of the State Level Consultative Committee to redress the grievances of trade and industry, said that the Government had decided to reduced VAT from 12.5 to four per cent on 15 categories of items from January 1, 2006.
