PERIAKULAM: Sethu Institute of Technology (SIT), Kariapatti lifted the Jayaraj Chelladurai Trophy defeating Sourashtra College, Madurai 75-61 in the last match of the semifinal round league in the 9th annual State-level inter-collegiate basketball tournament conducted by Jayaraj Chelladurai College here on Saturday. S.I.T. emerged winner with an all-win record in the league and Sourashtra College finished runner-up losing only to S.I.T. M. Gajendran of Sourashtra College was adjudged man of the tournament and awarded a special prize. Chidamabara Suriyavelu, Vice-President of T.N.B.A and organising secretary of the Periakulam All India Basketball tournament was honoured during the valedictory function. The results (league): SIT 75 (Muthukumar 15, Madhan 11) bt GRI 40 (S. Jeyachandran 16, S. Dinesh Kumar 11). Sourashtra College 62 (M. Gajendran 17, Adhi Ganesh 16) bt T.C.E 45 (Ramesh 11, Muthupandi 16).
Breeze BC registers win
Breeze Basketball Club posted a 54-43 win over Jazz Basketball Club, Pattiveeranpatti in the inaugural match of the 12th annual Rtn. PHF. G. Sundararajan Mani Vizha trophy State-level basketball tournament at Dindigul on Saturday. The results: Breeze BC 54 (Sathish 18, John Bosco 12) bt Jazz BC 43 (Dinesh Sankar 12, Rajesh 14); Udumalpet BC 46 (Carey 21, Sivakumar 10) bt MSP BC, Dindigul 23 (Jeganraj 12).
Big win for Temple City
Temple City Football Club registered an emphatic 4-0 victory over Pandian Saraswathy Engineering College in the Madurai District Football Association `B' division league in Madurai on Saturday. Sekar scored a brace while Perumal and Mukesh Pandian netted one each.
Muralikrishna shares lead with Vinoth
B.T. Muralikrishna (S.
