Rammalleswara, Tulasi win

VISAKHAPATNAM: K. Tulasi of host SAI STC, Visakhapatnam and M. Rammalleswara Rao of STC, Eluru were declared the Strong Woman and Strong Man of the all-India SAI hostels weightlifting championships which concluded at the Port Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.

The following received Best Lifter titles: C. Mohan of Pondicherry (senior men), M.V. Manikanta of Eluru (juniors), K. Ravikumar of Orissa (sub-juniors), Premeshwari Devi of Bangalore (senior women), Malleswari of Visakhapatnam (juniors) and Rageni Devi of Bangalore (sub-juniors).

Though team championship was not declared, STC Imphal finished with the maximum number of medals, followed by Eluru hostel.

The results (winners only):

Senior men: 77kg: S. Mukunda Rao (Eluru, snatch 110 kg, jerk 142kg and total 252kg), 85kg: B. Rammalleswara Rao (Eluru, 122, 150 and 272 kg), 94kg: Kh. Thoiba Singh (Imphal, 97, 125 and 222 kg). 105kg: Ch. Devi Prasad (Eluru, 90, 120 and 210kg), Plus 105 kg: D.R.K. Reddy (Eluru, 110, 140 and 250 kg).

Juniors: 77kg: Aravind Yadav (Kashipur, 115, 135 and 250 kg), 85kg: Biswajeet Pratiwari (Orissa, 105, 135 and 240 kg), 94kg: M. Jayapal Babu (Eluru, 106, 130 and 236kg), 105kg: N. Ashatomba Singh (Imphal 90, 130 and 220kg), plus 105kg: K.V. Durga Prasad (Eluru, 85, 108 and 193kg).

Sub-juniors: 77kg: K. Manikandan (Pondy 83, 105 and 188 kg), plus 77kg: M. Syamlal (Calicut, 90, 118 and 208kg).

Senior women: 69kg: Geethapamei (Imphal, 50, 70 and 120 kg), 75kg: Th. Rashi Devi (Imphal, 68, 80 and 148kg), plus 75kg: Y. Bimita Devi (Imphal 60, 78 and 138kg).

Juniors: 69kg: Parnei Chongkom (Imphal 67, 85 and 142kg), 75kg: Mousumi Gogai (Guwahati, 47, 61 and 108kg), plus 75kg: K. Tulasi (Visakha 85, 112 and 197kg).

Sub-juniors: Plus 63kg: R. Sakuntala (Visakha 60, 80 and 140kg).
