Hard work the key: Mithali

HYDERABAD : India women's cricket captain, S. Mithali Raj, attributed the team's success in the Asia Cup in Pakistan early this week to team spirit and great amount of hard work and commitment the girls put right through the event.

The Hyderabad girl, who slammed a match-winning century in the final match against Sri Lanka, says the triumph should be a good augury for the sport itself in India. "We hope to encash upon the wonderful start we have given in the New Year," she added.

"Coming close on the heels of the series victory against England recently, the win in Asia Cup also shows that there is a steady improvement of the team in all areas," Mithali observed.

"With the tour of Australia scheduled very soon, the victory in Pakistan could not have come at a more appropriate time," she said to a query.

The South Central Railway employee is happy to be the captain of a team which is determined to go all out even in trying circumstances. "I should thank the Women's Cricket Association of India for all the support they lent to the team in it's preparations. We hope to live up to the expectations of the fans in the near future too," Mithali concluded.
