KOLLAM: My Juliet, a bright yellow ultralight aircraft, made a touchdown at the Asramam Maidan at 5.20 p.m. on Saturday to mark the five-day adventure flying festival that will begin at the maidan here on Sunday. My Juliet, piloted by Wing Commander S.K.J. Nair, took off from Aranmula and touched down at the Asramam Maidan 20 minutes later. Wing Commander Nair said he found the maidan a fine airstrip to land. The aircraft is owned by the Indian Adventure Foundation (IOF). The adventure flying festival is being organised by the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board and the Malabar Aero Sports Society. The aim is to attract the youth to flying. The attractions at the festival include parasailing and paragliding, in addition to flying the ultralight and microlight aircraft. The festival will be flagged off on Sunday by District Collector B. Sreenivas. The valedictory function on December 12 will be inaugurated by Kollam Mayor N. Padmalochanan. Youngsters can attend the flying course at subsidised rates. Those interested can register their names directly at the maidan.
