HASSAN: The district administration has decided to postpone elections to seven gram panchayats, which are completing their term in February, in view of the `Mahamastakabhisheka' in Shravanabelagola, an official release has aid. The State Election Commission (SEC) had directed the District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner to issue notification on January 9 with regard to holding of elections to the gram panchayats of Ankapura, Ambuga, Hanumanthapura, Channangihalli, and Kattaya of Hassan taluk, Baanavara of Arsikere taluk and Shravanabelagola of Channarayapatna taluk. But Deputy Commissioner K.H. Ashwathanarayana Gowda sought postponement of the polls in view of the `Mahamastakabhisheka,' celebrations, which will held from January 22 to February. Complying with the SEC's order, the district administration has decided to defer the polls.
