KOCHI: Ernakulam educational sub-district was in the lead with 246 points at the revenue school kalotsavam (High School section) when the results of 30 events were declared on Saturday evening. Mattanchery was at second place with 235 points. Thripunithura came third with 229 points and Aluva fourth with 212 points. In the UP section kalotsavam, Aluva and Thripunithura educational sub-districts were in the lead with 91 points each. Vypeen and Ernakulam secured the second place with 82 points each. When the results of 17 events were declared, Thripunithura educational sub-district topped the Arabic school kalotsavam. Mattanchery secured 107 points and Perumbavoor 104. Perumbavoor was in lead in the Sanskrit (High School section) Kalotsavam with 184 points. Aluva was at the second place (174) followed by Kolenchery and Thripunithura (173 points each).
In the UP Sanskrit kalotsavam, Perumbavoor was in the lead with 198 points when the results of 24 events were declared. Thripunithura came second with 186 points followed by Aluva that had 177 points. On the fourth day of the festival, local people of Thripunithura came in droves to watch the competitions. Vacant seats, which had been a feature of the festival during the last two days, were filled when Oppana and ganamela events got under way at the respective venues at Government Boy's High School. Several schools participated in the ganamela competition. Participants had a tough time owing to the poor acoustics provided by the organisers. Team managers of St. Anne's HSS, Eloor, protested when the sound system failed to function well. Students of the school could not use the rhythm pad for several minutes owing to a technical snag. Teachers demanded that the participants be given another chance. However, the organisers rejected the demand. The number of complaints submitted by teams shot up on Saturday.
