IPTA to celebrate Theatre Day

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram district committee of the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) has drawn up a five-day programme to celebrate World Theatre Day on March 27. The highlight of the celebration is the presentation of a dramatic version of the life of Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja who attained martyrdom in his fight against the British. The version has been prepared by G. Gopalakrishnan. The Thoppil Bhasi Puraskaram will be presented on the occasion. Plea against disbanding ERC

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram MP Pannian Ravindran has asked the Central Government not to disband the Energy Research Centre at Sreekariyam. The centre is a branch of the Power Research Institute headquartered in Bangalore. The MP said the centre here was running on a profit basis and should be sustained. A fax message to this effect has been sent to the Union Minister for Power. — Staff Reporter

DYFI march

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DYFI on Saturday staged a protest march in front of the Sree Chithra Tirunal engineering college accusing the college management of corruption and backdoor recruitment of staff. — Staff Reporter

River worship

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A ritual worship of river Karamana would be organised for the good of the world on Monday, according to a press release here.
