Window to Gujarat crafts

KOCHI: An exhibition of handicrafts and hand-printed textiles, which began at the Kanakadamodar Hall on Saturday, brings together an ensemble of Gujarat's handicraft products ranging from precious and semi-precious stone jewels to chania-choli.

The exhibition-cum-sale features colourful dresses, gift items, leather bags, purses, gloves, drawings of Rajput art forms, collection of rare idols, saris, churidars, dress material, and bedspreads. There are also carpets and doormats of various finishes.

The exhibition has put on show white metal ornaments, chains, studs and lockets from stones of Jaipur. Gujarat bangles and ornaments crafted of Italian coral are some of the other displays. Channapatna toys, puja items, acupressure treatment equipment, wooden needles, etc., are also on sale.

Many national award winners have also exhibited their products. The exhibition offers 20 per cent Government rebate on handlooms and 10 per cent on handicrafts. The show ends on January 21.
