Belgaum: An invitation is in the waiting for children. It will come some time later. Every child can look forward to the one, which promises both fun and learning, and a meaningful holiday time.

As children start preparing for their annual examination in March and get into holiday mood, they will pleased to see an open invitation in the print media, if the plans are implemented on time.

It will be about a unique "Science Park," being developed by Lions Club of Belgaum Stree Shakti.

Coming up at in an area of 12 guntas in front of Karanji Mutt in Shivabasava Nagar in the city, the park promises a great fun creatively blended with interesting academics and environmental themes. It is expected to be ready by March-end.

The park is an indication of openness, refreshing ambience, cool and pleasant environment, say the Lady Lions of the Club. It has been conceptualised with the objective of providing an open classroom where children can play and learn scientific themes in a healthy and cheerful atmosphere. Interaction with science is more effective when children participate in the process of scientific experiments as observation and participation as well as interaction can help them understand science and its utility in clear perspective, they say.

Not only children, any member of public can know certain basic concepts of science in an informal way through play exhibits with nobody's guidance. A variety of open air play exhibits depicting science behind various topics such as mechanics, sound, light, simple harmonic motion, sun dial, etc. are being designed for installation in the park.

The project has been taken up as part of golden jubilee celebrations of Lionism in India.
