HUBLI: KLE Society's College of Business Administration, in association with BIC Society, is conducting a screening test in Hubli on January 18 for training students of final year degree courses for the Business Process Outsourcing industry.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Shankaranna Munavalli, Member, Board of Management, KLE Society, and President, Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and I.R. Neeli, Director (Administration) of the Society, said the initiative, which is the first of its kind in north Karnataka, will benefit students from the region who hitherto had to go to Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune for the test.

The screening test will be of two hours duration with two sections, one on verbal ability and the other on mental application ability. Final year students of BBA, BCA, BA, B.Com and B.Sc can appear for the test, Mr. Munavalli said.

Based on the performance of the students in the test, they will be selected for the training programmes that will be make them eligible for placements in the BPO industry, he said.

Elaborating on the need for such an initiative, Prof. Neeli said as providing infrastructure at primary locations such as Bangalore becoming costlier, the companies are looking for other cities to set up their branches. That is where smaller and cost effective technology destinations such as Hubli, Dharwad and Belgaum come into picture, he said. The college is also organising "Nav-Chaitanya- 2006," an online competition for second year Pre University students.

The competition comprises three events namely "Nav-Hasya," "Nav-Gnyani" and "Nav-Khel," P.B. Roodagi, Principal of the college, said.

He said the college has sent invitations to more than 150 colleges in north Karnataka and the response is good.

Interested students can contact Mr. Roodagi, Principal, KLES' College of Business Administration, Vidyanagar, Hubli (Ph 0836-2371301, 2272228) for further details about the BPO screening test.
